Kansas has been No. 1 in the CBS Sports Top 25 (and one) since Dec. 30[1].
But that's about to change.
Because the Jayhawks lost 74-63 at West Virginia on Tuesday night, which means they're now 14-2 and no longer in possession of a 13-game winning streak. Simply put, Bill Self's team might still prove to be the country's best. But Oklahoma, I think, suddenly has the superior resume. So Lon Kruger's Sooners are the new No. 1 in the Top 25 (and one).
OU is 13-1 with four top-50 KenPom wins.
The lone loss was a triple-overtime loss at Kansas.
Michigan State, which is still undefeated with Denzel Valentine in the lineup, moves up to No. 2 -- one spot above the Kansas team it beat on a neutral court in November. North Carolina and Villanova round out the top five of the Top 25 (and one).
Maryland is now down to No. 9 after losing Tuesday at Michigan. Iowa State is now down to No. 23 after losing for the third time in four games Tuesday at Texas.
Next up for Iowa State?
At Kansas State on Saturday, then at home against Oklahoma.
So Steve Prohm's Cyclones are in real danger of maybe starting 1-5 in the Big 12.
