Can you identify all nine warning symbols that could flash up on your dashboard? There are nine possible warning signs that could flash up to let you know you need to get to a mechanic.
And new research has revealed half of drivers have no clue what the tyre pressure warning light is or the symbol that indicates a problem with the diesel particulate filter.
But how many can you identify? Do you know all nine? Take our quiz and find out.
The quiz comes as the research conducted by car diagnostics app Engie[1] found that half of those questioned (50 per cent) failed to recognise the warning for low tyre pressure.
This was followed by the diesel particulate filter warning light which four in ten Brits drew a blank at.
The engine warning light – which could signify a serious mechanical problem and cause irreparable damage to the car if not checked by a professional – was the third most unidentifiable symbol with 38 per cent failing to understand it correctly.
New research has found half of Brits have no idea what dashboard symbols meanFourth in the list came the brake system light with one in three (36 per cent) unable to describe what it meant.
But it isn't just symbols that seem to confuse drivers, as the study also found that a quarter of Brits don't know what a dipstick is (it measures the oil in a vehicle's engine).
Meanwhile more than a third don't know what ABS (anti-lock braking system) implies, and the same amount have never checked that their tyres are correctly inflated.
