Have you seen this red car carrier that struck and killed a man last fall?

State police in the midstate are asking for the public's help in identifying a commercial truck that struck 2 men changing a tire along I-81, killing one of them.

The accident happened Oct. 18, 2016, at 12:15 p.m. at milemarker 204.7 on I-81 south in Greenfield Township, Lackawanna County.

Investigators believe a car carrier, or similar commercial vehicle, was traveling south from the Binghamton, N.Y. area on I-81 when the accident occurred.

Since the car carrier may have traveled south through the midstate after the crash, state police are asking for the public's help in identifying the truck or driver.

Police said they don't believe it was a common van or flat-bed type trailer.

Three men were changing a flat tire along I-81 when the truck drifted out of the right lane onto the shoulder, striking two of the men and killing John Fiore of Clay, N.Y.

The vehicle may have pulled over just south of the impact, but did not remain on scene, police said.

Witnesses reported seeing a red car carrier passing the victims at the time of the crash, and red paint was left on the victim's vehicle.

Anyone with information on the striking vehicle or its driver is asked to call Trooper Edward Boettcher at Dunmore at 570-963-4319.
