Prince's albums, songs top iTunes' best seller lists following his death

Prince's music topped the iTunes best seller list following his death.

Prince might no longer be with us, but we'll forever have his music.

The "Purple Rain" singer's albums jumped to the top of iTunes' albums sales list following the report of his death.

"The Very Best of Prince" topped the best seller list as of 2:30 p.m. The album was released in 2001 and it features Prince's greatest hits. "Purple Rain" and "The Hits/The B-Sides" also jumped to the top of list and are in second and third, respectively. The fourth spot on the list is also occupied by Prince and his "1999" album.

Prince has also taken control of the top three slots in the Top Songs list with "Purple Rain," "Little Red Corvette," and "When Doves Cry."

All of Prince's music was pulled from streaming sites such as Spotify last summer, so iTunes is one of the only places to get it. Amazon Prime Music does not show how popular Prince's tracks are on its website, but it does feature an entire section dedicated to the late singer ^[2].

The 57-year-old Prince died Thursday morning ^[4] at his Minnesota studio. The singer had been hospitalized last week because of the flu. Musical artists, actors and other public figures went on social media to share their heartfelt tributes ^[5].
