The discovery of a man's body inside a luxury car near Oberon has taken a dramatic twist
A MAN'S body found dead in a car near Oberon is believed to be a former bikie gang member reported missing earlier this week, Fairfax Media has reported.
The Sydney Morning Herald reports that family and friends of Ricky Ciano, 35, had feared the worst for the former Rebels bikie when he disappeared after going to a friend's house in Penrith on Saturday night.
Mr Ciano had allegedly survived an attempt on his life in 2015 shortly after he left the outlaw motorcycle gang.
Police are yet to formally identify the body and will return this morning to the scene where the dead man was found on the Duckmaloi Road about 15 kilometres from Oberon.
It's believed the body was found in a luxury car that locals had seen parked beside the road for at least a day.
Police and emergency services responded to reports that an unresponsive man had been found in a vehicle around 7.45pm on Tuesday.
On arrival, NSW Ambulance paramedics confirmed the man had died.
Police from Chifley local area command attended the scene and established a crime scene which was examined by specialist forensic officers.
Local detectives, with the assistance of the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad, are investigating the circumstances surrounding the man's death.
A post mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of the man's death.
