Martin Kemp has admitted that he was surprised when EastEnders decided to kill him off.
The actor played Walford villain Steve Owen for four years, before the character was killed off in 2002 in a dramatic car explosion.
Discussing the show, he said to the Daily Star[1]: "I can't go back. They blew me up, I'm in bits!
"To be honest, I was quite surprised that they killed me off as the part was so big. But I've realised since that it was good as it has allowed me to do other things."

Martin shot to fame playing bass in Spandau Ballet, before he and his brother Gary appeared in British film The Krays in 1990.
And he will soon be getting some primetime reality TV experience as a judge on Gary Barlow's new talent show Let It Shine, alongside Danni Minogue and Glee's Amber Riley[2].
The BBC One series, which will be hosted by Graham Norton and Mel Giedroyc, will see Gary searching for five young men to take part in a new Take That musical.
EastEnders continues tonight at 7.30pm on BBC One.
