Nazi memorabilia and German World War Two medals found on offer at school's car boot sale

A Parent Teacher Association has pledged to crack down on its car boot sellers after Nazi[1] memorabilia was offered for sale at a fundraising event on school grounds.

Cecile Roach, who regularly shops at Chiswick School's monthly car boot sale, said she noticed the items on display at four stalls at the event on November 6.

The car boot sale is held on the first Sunday of each month in the grounds of the academy school in leafy Chiswick in west London, to raise money for the PTA.

The objects included Nazi World War Two military medals and propaganda items adorned with swastikas.

Ms Roche took photographs of some of the objects and posted them to Facebook.

Her photos include a picture of a white plaque bearing the words "Deutsche Arbeitsfront" - or "German Labour Front" - printed below the Nazi emblem.

The organisation was created by Adolf Hitler to replace trade unions in Nazi Germany.

A Blood Order medal was on sale, which were presented to particpants in Hitler's failed 1923 Munich Putsch coup

Also on sale was a Blood Order medal, which carries the phrase: "and yet you were still victorious" - "und ihr habt dich gesiegt" in German - above a swastika emblem.

The medals were presented to participants in Hitler's failed 1923 Munich Putsch coup, and have a picture of the Feldherrnhalle in Munich, where the coup ended, on the reverse.

Another of the objects appears to be a Nazi Waffen-SS proficiency medal, worn by members of the brutal armed wing of the party.

Ms Roche, who works in the pharmaceutical industry and lives in nearby Kew, told The Mirror: "I've lived in Kew for about 25 years and the car boot sale is held once a month.

"I was so surprised when I passed by and noticed it on a stall and another stall and another stall.

"I only took a few snaps, but there was a lot more on offer. Some of the sellers specialised in war memorabilia but others had all sorts of tat.

Cechile Ruhe said she noticed Nazi memorabilia on offer at four stalls

"My family is French, my relatives were in the French resistance, it made me feel very uncomfortable.

"I've been hearing nationalistic comments post- Brexit[2] and I'm feeling quite sensitive about it."

She said she had never noticed similar items for sale at previous events.

A PTA spokeswoman said: "A seller has contacted us to report the stall. This stall is unknown to us and as reported, would certainly be inappropriate for any car boot, school-based or not.

"We have never encountered this before and will be amending our website and flyers to reflect our views.

"I have informed the lady who raised the issue that this is the action that we would be taking."
