Officers cut free after Salford police car crash

Two police officers were cut free from their patrol car after a crash in Salford.

The officers' vehicle and a Mercedes car crashed on the A57 Liverpool Road at the junction with Barton Road in Eccles at about 03:30 GMT.

The driver of the Mercedes and both officers were taken to hospital.

A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs.

Greater Manchester Police said one officer had been discharged from hospital, while the other was said to be in a stable condition.

The driver of the Mercedes has also been discharged.
