PA Gets Rid Of Car Renewal Stickers, Girl Stabbed In SEPTA Station, Philly Package Robber In Custody

Pennsylvania's Department of Transportation has announced that it will be getting rid of renewal stickers for license plates. The department stated that getting rid of the renewal stickers will save around $3 million a year because they won't have to produce or mail the stickers. This will go into effect at the end of December. Motorists must still have their vehicles inspected and have proper registration cards when asked by police. PennDOT will also let motorists who renew their registration online, print out their registration cards. PennDOT also stated that motorists will not have to scrape or peel off the stickers that are already on the license plates.

SEPTA Police are now investigating after a 13-year-old girl was stabbed at the Frankford Transportation Center on the 5200 block of Frankford Avenue Wednesday afternoon. Officials stated that the girl was stabbed in the hallway connecting the eastbound side to the westbound side of the station. The girl ran into the bathroom after being stabbed, she was then taken to the St. Christopher's Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police are reviewing surveillance camera footage to help identify the suspect.

The suspect wanted for stealing packages off of a porch in North Liberties is now in custody. The robbery took place on the 800 block of North Lawrence Street in Northern Liberties last Friday. Police stated the suspect walked up to the home in broad day light and stole three or four UPS packages. It turns out only one of the packages had Christmas presents, the other packages were coat donations for children in the area. Residents in the neighborhood called police again on Wednesday afternoon when they spotted a person that matched the suspect's description, who was going to strike again near 5th and Poplar. The suspect's identity has not yet been released.
