He had hoped to promote his new show The Reassembler, but Top Gear[1] fans hijacked the spot and pushed the telly driver for answers.
May is expected to be joined by Jeremy Clarkson[2] and Richard Hammond when the new program makes its official debut later this year, but even with the hosts and a possible release date in place, there are still plenty of official details that have yet to be revealed.
When asked by one fan when to expect to see the former Top Gear trio's new motoring show, May replied: "The Autumn, or fall if you're in the US". A season so nice, it had to be said twice, and in two different ways.
Well, that's only a few more months. "We are making a series of TV films and we don't have a base", said May. We are doing more episodes than we did in the latter days of Top Gear. So we know there are going to be tons of new segments and approaches to bringing out the joy of automobiles, but that's about it. Then James May[3] held a Reddit AMA[4] yesterday and he backed up what Clarkson indicated.
Meanwhile May has also been keeping busy with his new BBC Four show The Reassembler - which sees him taking things apart and putting them back together to prove how easily it can be done. Hopefully, though, Jeremy Clarkson will reassess his behavior at the BBC in the past - he wasn't exactly an angel before he got fired - and we can look forward to watching him on Amazon for a long time without any lawsuits[5] coming in to muck things up.
Chris Evans, Top Gear's main host[6], used his BBC radio show to apologize "unreservedly" after hearing of the veteran's disappointment in Top Gear. "Jeremy Clarkson was certainly no saint, but I don't believe he would have ever performed a stunt in such bad taste".
