A family vacation ended in tragedy after a Missouri couple was killed and their daughters were injured in a car wreck during a trip to Disney World, police said.
The family was headed to the beach Sunday when the crash happened.
Greg Moyers, 40, and his wife Sara, 39, had saved for months to take their daughters -- Hailey, 13, and Sophia, 8 -- to Disney World.
Following the beach trip, the Moyers planned to return home, family friends said.
The Moyers were driving on Interstate 4 when a car driven by Charles King of New London, N.C., drifted into their lane -- sending their car off the road and into a tree, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
A medical examiner pronounced the couple dead at the scene. Both daughters were gravely wounded and sent to Arnold Palmer Hospital.
Everyone in the Moyers' vehicle had been wearing their seatbelts, authorities said.
King was not injured in the crash, and no charges have been filed as the crash investigation is ongoing.
Family friends were devastated by news of the tragic crash.
"Their kids were their world," close friend Loni Burnside Eaton told the Orlando Sentinel[1].
"They were very involved and supportive parents and just wanted the best for them. They wanted the girls to experience Disney and the beach.
"I can't believe this really happened."
