Number Eighty of the "Kodachrome Image Series" begins this week with a photo of an eye-catching Cities Service filling station and garage located in Miami Beach, Florida. Do not know what to think of this monumental filling station other than the Oil Company took advantage of the vacationland location to impress visitors and to grab more than its market share on this roadway. The facility apparently had four gas pump islands, two of which are covered, two drive through service bays and a woman wearing a Citco green skirt acting as a representative. Can anyone identify the bridge and this roadway?
As is the usual practice in this series, we ask our readers to tell us the year, make, and model of all of these vehicles along with anything else of interest in the photos. You can look back on all the earlier parts of this series here.[1] The photos are via Americar.[2]
- A Montgomery Ward parking lot circa-1960 filled with automobiles of the period.
- It appears white was the favorite automotive color of this pair of gentleman, one of whom apparently owned a car that has not made an appearance yet in this series on "The Old Motor."
- Hate to include a wintertime photo here in October, but when this was written yesterday the snow was falling down and we received four inches of it. If you live in an area affected by cold temperatures, snow and ice use this as a reminder Old Man Winter IS ON HIS WAY.
