CARS.COM — The biggest changes to the 2018 Ford[1] F-150[2] take place under the hood, where Ford is adding a 3.0-liter diesel[3] engine to its powertrain lineup. That eagerly anticipated engine won't be available when the new F-150s arrive in dealerships, however. Additionally, the base engine will now be a naturally aspirated 3.3-liter V-6; it will replace the outgoing model's[4] 3.5-liter V-6, and Ford says it will provide better fuel economy.

Changes aren't just taking place under the hood, though, as there will be some cosmetic tweaks to the exterior too. All F-150 models will receive new grilles, headlamps and bumpers. Grilles on lower trims and some Sport models will be mesh and feature "nostrils"; some higher trim levels will have what Ford calls a "twin I-beam" grille. These two main styles will be further differentiated by a variety of feature-package-dependent paint and material coatings. Overall, the new F-150 will look more planted and lower to the ground. These changes also bring the truck's design more in line with the newly redesigned Super[6] Duty[7] lineup[8].
On the tailgate, some lower trim levels will have a large F-150 logo stamped into the sheet metal. Higher trim levels will have a plastic applique trim piece in place of the stamped logo. Check out the gallery below for more and click[9] here for more from PickupTrucks.com.
