Why Jackie Chan, why?

Jackie Chan[1] is one of the world's best movie stunt performers, having appeared in a countless number of action films. Put him behind the wheel of a car, and you instantly have our attention. His latest film, the Bollywood-inspired Kung Fu Yoga, just looks bizarre. The trailer treats us to a salivating selection of supercars, including a McLaren 650S, Lamborghini Aventador, Ford GT, Bugatti Veyron and, for whatever reason, a Devel Sixteen.
Unfortunately, the combination of cheap CGI and laughable physics make it unintentionally hilarious to watch. It somehow makes some of the ridiculous stunts in The Fast and Furious[2] seem plausible. Set for release in certain territories later this month, Kung Fu Yoga is a Chinese-Indian production starring the legendary Jackie Chan.

As such, we get martial arts action sequences, extended dance numbers and enough supercar exotica to rival Fast and Furious. In the movie, Chan "teams up with beautiful Indian professor Ashmita and assistant Kyra to locate lost Magadha treasure." How this leads to a lion in the back seat of a speeding QX80 is anyone's guess. The CGI looks utterly woeful – try not to laugh when what looks like an Aston Martin rolls over at high speed into the path of Chan's QX80. And as with many movies, the sound mixing is wrong too: the V8 650S sounds as if it's inexplicably powered by the Aventador's V12. We don't think the crew behind The Fate Of The Furious has anything to worry about, somehow.
