GARDAÍ in Claremorris are investigating a complaint that a man in a UK registered Open Astra was videoing properties in Knock yesterday with a camcorder while sitting in his vehicle.
Fears have been expressed by locals he may have been casing a number of dwellings for potential break-ins.
The car was spotted parked at Churchfield in the holy village at around 2.30 p.m. yesterday.
A witness revealed: "When he realised he'd been spotted he drove into Churchfield Lawns. Then, realising he was about to be confronted, he drove off in the direction of Burke's Bar, hid behind Kilkenny's Bar, and eventually made his getaway at above the recommended speed through the village of Knock."
